If you like to talk to complete strangers or be admired or talked about, then this is the bicycle for you!
I was walking through Cambridge in the UK a few years ago and was instantly taken aback by the classic lines, colour and style of the Classic Seven Deluxe which was in a shop window. Within a short time I was riding my own around the Essex country side and discovered a great way of being noticed and traveling in comfort and style. I have traversed roads, tracks, farmers fields, footpaths and towns - and in every location the bicycle performed perfectly and drew comment.
OK, I have had a pedal break, a chain snap and a seat spring collapse and those balloon tyre do attract thorns, glass and anything sharp - but I would not give up any feature of this classic for these minor niggles.
I have now shipped the bicycle to my new home in Wellington New Zealand and not a day goes by that I do not get admiring smiles, comments of 'cool bike' and enquiries about its history. More often than not people ask how they can obtain one, as at the moment none seem to be stocked by the Welly bike shops - long may this continue as personally, I do not like being part of the crowd, and by default if you buy or ride one of these, you become a crowd of one!
Well done Schwinn - now, maybe I can give up a life of IT and become a stockest for you down here - it sure looks good against the blue sea and green hills of God's Own!
