Sittin' on the dock of the bay

Here is a very short blog as I wanted to upload some time lapse video I took last night and this morning at dawn. It was taken using my laptops web cam, the laptop being balanced on top of some occasional tables which themselves were resting on a chair - luckily there were no earth quakes to disturb the filming!

So here you have Wellington harbour and Oriental Bay as seen from my apartment window on the evening of 10th Jan from about 6pm until it got a bit dark for filming around 10:30pm and then a sequence this morning (11th) from about 4:15am (no, for some reason I could not sleep so thought I would set this up) until approx 11:00am.

I really like watching the activity in the harbour, especially the little red tug boats which are mournfully called from large container and cruise ship horns - unfortunately I did not have a long enough power cable to be able to film the area of the docks where they dock.

Oh, and preempting any comments about sitting on the dock of the bay when I should maybe be looking for employment - do not worry I have a couple of applications on the go again at the moment, a third will follow on Monday and over the weekend I am scouring the job web and papers. New Zealand is just coming back to work after a 3 or 4 week break taken by most people over Christmas and the New Year, and it has been mentioned by a number of sources that those looking to change employment will only do so after taking annual leave around this time. So hopefully this trend of more posts becoming available will continue.

Oh, if you are interested in what I did today - then after a rather late start in the early afternoon (for some reason I was very tired around 4:30am and then slept until gone 10!) - I drove out over the Rumutaka hills to the lovely small town of Greytown (yes, again, but it is such a nice place to visit and the weather was perfect). Caroline came with me and we both enjoyed an art gallery hosted by a photographer called Silva and a fantastic ramshackle book\antique shop called Main Street Books with its friendly and generous owner, Nigel (who also happens to have an interest in spiritual things and has heard of Borley Rectory!).

Tonight Charlotte is coming over for dinner and as yet the weekend is unplanned for me - I think Caroline is having a hair cut tomorrow though.

Well there you have it, a quick update and hopefully in interesting film below. I will provide details of the New Year horse racing in a future update, but for now I am happy to get back in a routine of daily (ish) updates.
