Wobbly pause

Well, there you have it, the longest gap between posts I have had on this blog since I arrived here...and I am only really putting this entry up as a stop gap - mmm, literally I guess - as basically things are ticking over at the moment.

I have yet to hear anything more about the two jobs that I have on the go...yes, I am getting a little nervous about this but they both provided reasons as to why there would be a delay and an approximate length of it...I am expecting to hear by the end of this week though.

So no job news just leaves social, weather and house news...

Weather - well this last week has remained warm and mostly sunny, but it did rain a fair bit on Saturday afternoon, a warm misty sort of rain. Today (Tues) is slightly overcast again, but there is a warm breeze and it remains bright. Well there you have it, my Michael Fish blog update - and for anyone that worries there will be a hurricane - don't worry, I have checked and there is not one on the way...

House - It is just over a week now since I moved into the new apartment and I am starting to feel at home here, at least I can now walk up the three steep approach hills without informing anyone near me what the emergency services number in NZ is (111 BTW). I have set up a wireless Internet connection now but this simple act gave me some concern...you see when there was a problem with the connection I found myself having to switch things off and on again to fix them, all my other technical skills (yes I did have some...well I thought I did) seemed to be buried away somewhere...maybe I was just a typist after all?!

Social - OK, this is fantastic and is really enjoyable. Charlotte is the icing on Wellington's cake and well...mmm some things I can maybe leave off of this blog, but needless to say I am the happiest I have been for a long time, it is just a pity my plan B of 'Marry a Kiwi' for residency is no longer an option ;)

In terms of going out we have continued to explore the various bars and restaurants around Courtney place and Cuba Street, including a romantic meal for two last night with not one, but two candles on the table! Wellington is a city which does embraces the embrace so it is not uncommon to see couples doing couple things here, there and everywhere - and it obliges by having enough suitable views and locations to enhance the experience.

Interestingly Caroline has agreed to have a profile added to the same service I put SaucySausage on, however a quick check of their updated photo inclusion rules, now says that they will not allow cartoons to be included...so I guess I will remain unique in the history of New Zealand dating, but then again anyone who read my profile will have known this anyway!

Having said this it was a drunken evening when Caroline came up with her (name to be withheld) profile so it has come out slightly (erm, extremely) different to the other women on there. Still she has already had a number of responses and her photo's have only just been approved...she thinks the response rate will now drop though!....hopefully she will be able to sample enough NZ wine bars over the coming weeks to maybe start her ideal career as a wine critique, and maybe even meet an interesting Kiwi chap or two! (guess I will have to buy an xbox of some such for the apartment...or better yet...move out!)

I am still collecting photos for my book idea (here is another one from the series so far...surely some of you have guessed the topic by now... but I have added a little poll for your guesses) and last night a conversation between Charlotte and I, about a balloon which drifted past a bar, has lead onto an idea for a short film. Maybe my work starved brain is desperate to do something again, or just the atmosphere of Wellington is enough to inspire me - either way I will keep you informed of progress on my two projects as they mature.

Well it is now early afternoon and I am getting hungry so I will shortly wander into town for some food, and, as I am unemployed, on holiday and not driving, maybe a little wine as well! Oh and as this was a bit of a weak blog entry I have added a little slideshow of Wellington harbour (as seen from Oriental Bay) by night.
