Wow - I did not expect that sort of reaction for my little comedy movie! I think the two comments have come from people who did not know the recent history in Essex Probation. So for them I shall recap- but rest assured I am having the time of my life out here, I am not at all lonely, quite the opposite in actual fact!
Just before I left Essex Probation, they asked if I would do a little film thing for their staff conference in November. As I was leaving and I am that sort of guy, I thought, sure I can do that (plus I got some mileage for Southend visit ;) Anyway, the plot of the film was taking the mick out of recent policies they had introduced - one of these being the displaying of Open and Closed times on the front door. Apparently during various meetings were this was discussed, it was often said that they should 'be just like M&S would have' - and this kind of stuck. So the mick take was to suggest one office had gone further on being just like M&S, and introduced shopping trolleys and in fact a trolley boy, which was where I came in!
Yeah - on paper it looks a little erm, dry - but I hear the actual end film went down well. So I had it in my mind to do a little 'behind the camera - interview with the stars' type thing pretty soon after I arrived, originally to be sent so it could be seen at the conference maybe. It was intended to be a parody of this failing actor arriving in New Zealand having faffed up his short acting role in the UK - hence the bit about sacking his agent etc - but it ends with the ironic(?) fact that he actually gets a job as a trolley pusher over here! - Comedy gold people - come on!
Ah, well, I always thought I could make em laugh, now I know I can make em cry too! Is there no end to my talents? Cheer up UK, but I guess when it is cold and grey you need a sunnier message from here...mmm, I have an idea for a sequel already....
Got to go now, another job interview this afternoon and seeing Charlotte later ;)
