Well actually one season, early summer, but three meetings...OK, one meeting and two dates. Still I wore my newly purchased shirt and the sun was shining so I was feeling pretty good. I will also apologise in advance for this blog entry, as it will be shorter than the others - I still have issues with jet lag around this time of night, and for once I will give into them.
But before I go I will just tell you about the meeting, which was a pre-interview meeting, were basically I interviewed what would be my boss. This went well I thought, right up until the end when I asked about the pay...mmm, not great, enough to get a visa but I would be in the lower end of the earnings scale here. Still I did not mention any of that to him, as if the other interview turned out bad - even with the pink shirt - then I may have to fall back on this.
The dates were both really nice, one at lunch time who took me to somewhere that serves a good curry! So even if I do not see her again (not sure at this stage), then at least I have a legacy of tasty food ;)
The other date was with a nice girl who lives about an hour north of here, along the Kapiti coast (see above stock photo - sorry I did not have my camera with me). This is a fantastically beautiful area with rugged coastlines and a famous bird sanctuary on Kapiti Island itself. I must admit it was kind of weird to be driven all this way by a girl I had only chatted to a few times online (and most of those were comedy messages), but she was pretty friendly and I guess trusted me.
We spent some time chatting about New Zealand and jobs etc, which was really handy for me to get a low down on earnings. Her horse was not impressed by me, and to be honest as it was a huge ex-race horse, I was a little worried about it. Maybe that was the missing spark in a possible relationship, i.e. love me, love my horse. Still, as I know she will not read this, I must admit that her particular Kiwi phrases did start to grind a little, for example 'Truly!' was a loud replacement of 'really!', and she did end a few statements with 'Hey?', which is not as bad as the Oz 'rising' end, but once you start to notice it you cannot let it go! Lastly a lot of things were described as 'random', which I have heard used in the UK, but just not quite so much.
I feel bad about saying the above, but I wanted these posts to be an honest reflection of my thoughts and experiences here in NZ - and like I said she does not have the blog address ;)
Oh well, I will stick with the online thing for a little longer - but I will think about having a big get together of the girls, rather than one on one - mmm, reading that back makes it sound like I want to organise an orgy of some sort...this, of course, is not what I meant - but I would take my camera along if it happened ;-)
Anyway, enough rudeness for one night, tomorrow I am off walking around the local suburbs to see if I can find something suitable to rent...houses I mean, tsk, I don't know!
Oh, thanks for the vote - 77% of you thought I have done the right thing, so that is nice!
I will add another poll, and more pictures for Geoff to this blog later.
Like I said at the start, a shorter and less information for today's entry - sorry!
